They create unique, adaptable office environments that are comfortable, functional and aesthetically pleasing. They have also entered into the healthcare industry. Haworth also strives to remain environmentally conscious through sustainable practices.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked on many engineering drawing updates and part model updates using ProE. I helped to construct, then run tests on Haworth's newest desking system. I worked on consolidation and quality control for different parts. I also worked on conceptual designs for a table leg.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how to use ProE. I also learned some of the steps that it takes to get a product to launch. I was also given the opportunity to gain more insight into manufacturing processes and capabilities.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite parts of the co-op experience were being able to use ProE almost every day for a variety of tasks. Another good part of the experience was the way Haworth has it set up. They provide a lot of learning experiences for interns to learn about business operations and concepts. They also created events which allowed me (as well as all the other interns) to network with others. They also sent a large group of Haworth members to Chicago for NeoCon, which is the largest furniture expo in North America. It was also a joy to work with a group that is always willing to help and give guidance, but also showed an interest in me as an individual.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has helped me identify what I may/may not like to do in the engineering field. It has also helped to give me an idea of what my role could be in an organization such as Haworth. The experience has also allowed me to see where my strengths are, as well as some areas that I may need to improve on.
