Magna is a global tier 1 automotive supplier. Magna Mirrors is one of many divisions, they specialize in inside and outside mirrors, handles, and vision systems.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
At Magna Mirrors, I worked along the product engineers with the inside mirror team at the Kraft location. I was assigned many projects that involved aspects such as data collection, testing fixture production, design work, mirror assembly, test planning, and many more. I was given ample responsibilities that exposed me to the pace of a true engineering environment. The inside mirror is such an intricate little piece to a car, it is enjoyable to work with. The design of a simple rear view mirror has changed dramatically over decades, and it is keeping up with the pace of technology bringing many design innovations to life.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I have gained a lot of confidence in an engineering setting, building communication skills. Also, familiarizing myself with how to approach problems efficiently and intelligently.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The constant flow of projects kept you busy but you learn a lot that way. My co-workers were also very helpful and kind, this made the atmosphere very comfortable an enjoyable.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has definitely given me clarity with what I want as a career, from learning hands on what it's like as an engineer. My experience has affected my goals in a positive way and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work here.
