Description of the Organization
Inrad Inc. is a small company that develops and manufactures innovative medical devices, with a primary focus on biopsy devices. The company includes the CEO, president, engineer manager, regulatory manager and operations manager, along with a small production team. Currently, two full time engineers work alongside the engineer co-op.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I spent my time designing, prototyping, and testing devices that are on their way to market. Along with design work, organizing research and testing to convey to the team was important.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained experience in communicating with tool makers on small, injection molded components, formal protocol writing, working with suppliers on custom components, and timeline planning.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the co-op experience was designing medical devices that will improve the quality of care people receive.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has further built upon my passion for working in the medical device industry, with an emphasis on design work.
