GVSU College of Engineering is an educational facility that worked with third party(ies) to perform services that said party(ies) may not have expertise in.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was charged with preliminary design, refinement, and documentation of a prototype mobile site for depositing goods. The task involved heavy amounts of documentation and research.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained knowledge about renewable resources and expanded my knowledge of electrical systems. My skills in documentation were refined due to the type of work expected.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was the freedom of hours and work conditions. As I was left to my own devices for the majority of the time, I was forced to learn on how to develop plans without bouncing ideas back and forth with others. On a side note, I may have talked to the Whiteboard a little too often. It helped express ideas in a useful manner, but Whiteboard never said anything back. I think she was board.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
While I enjoyed my experience as a research assistant, I feel that the solitary environment of the job made me realize that I desired a career with more group interaction.
