Description of the Organization
Gentex Corporation is a manufacturer of automotive windows and mirrors, aircraft windows, and automotive electronics located in Zeeland, MI. They employ around 5,000 people globally with the almost all manufacturing located in Zeeland. The department I worked in specifically is the large area coating department that is responsible for coating glass used in a wide variety of Gentex Products.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This semester I worked on projects that involved mechanical design, troubleshooting quality issues, developing testing methods used in production, and process support.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I was able to gain knowledge in supplier and customer relations, how to handle quality issues, and knowledge about our process.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Building strong relationships with my co-workers and having the opportunity to learn more about our process while making meaningful contributions towards the improvement of the company.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has solidified my decision to pursue engineering as a career path. I very much enjoyed what I was able to do and I am excited for what the future holds.
