Description of the Organization
L-3 communications provides a long list of aerospace and defense products to both the federal and private sectors. The specific facility I in which I had my experience is L-3 Communications Avionic Systems. Avionic Systems provides products to improve situational awareness and enhance safety of aircraft.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was able to create a number of python scripts that data mine test information allowing it to be more easily searched and formatted into reports. I was also able to complete several programs to test new software. The largest task I was able to complete was a series of programs used to ensure the correct versions of software are being used during testing.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through my experience I was able to learn the python programming language, something that I had no prior knowledge in. I also learn how to create libraries and graphical user interfaces in the c programming language.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my co-op experience was getting to learn how to create user interfaces for programs. I was also able to go on a test flight for a new product.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
It has made me think of a career in the aerospace industry, one in which I had not previously had interest in.
