Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
In this job, you are expected to complete game day related tasks. These tasks ranged from ticket sales, merchandise sales, security, team assistance, and promotional assistance. Along with this, interns helped support both operations and marketing teams during Grand Rapids Gold game days.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Skills learned over the course of this internship included networking, sales, operations, communication, facility management, and promotional fulfillment.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Working with the professional athletes and employees and getting to experience the fans through such a professional atmosphere. It was always fun getting to throw t-shirts to fans and getting them excited during our promotions. Working with the athletes and employees also allowed me to learn so much about the steps it takes to put on such a high-level event.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Working this internship helped me realize which direction I want to go working in sport management. I feel more confident in my ability to help in event coordination, facility management, and event operations. I have built a passion for this, and I hope to take these skills and continue on to a future career that will surround me in these aspects.
