Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Some of my tasks I do on a daily basis include: Manage and organize tee sheet, help coordinate outside staff, coordinate/assist with all of our leagues, coordinate/assist with all of our club events(ex. member/guest, member/member), assist/coordinate all all of our clinics, assist/coordinate with our Jr. League and Jr. Camps, coordinate/assist with the Great Lakes Bay Invitational Pro-Am.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Making sure that your consumers needs, in my case would be the members of our club, are to be top priority. How to balance time between your mandated hours in the pro-shop but still having time to make sure you perform your private lessons at a high level. Working under pressure and stress is something that I am slowly but surely gaining working at a busy private club.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Definitely being able to form personal relationships with the members at your club. Seeing the same people everyday after a certain amount of time you build real personal connections and it although your #1 goal is to to perform your tasks at a high level for the members, those members are now almost like friends which make it a lot better.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Before working at Midland Country Club, I have worked in public golf my whole life and honestly loved it. Private is a lot different in the sense of you have a lot more time on your hands, a lot more sitting down than you typically are used to having, and honestly what I learned was that I was not a big fan of that. In terms of the experience with people it has been great, it is an amazing facility with amazing members, just do not know if it completely fits my personality when it comes to work.
