JR Automation is a System Integrator that has its headquarters in Holland, MI, but also has facilities in Tennessee, South Carolina, Utah, France, Romania, and Singapore.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I mainly worked on prototype projects for a large logistics machine system for our customer.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
This semester, I learned about how to better program using PLCs, HMIs, and auxiliary devices, as well as gaining more practical experience with machinery in general. You can learn information in school, but knowing which decision is the correct one requires experience.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op was working on a project from the initial power up all the way to it being shipped out to the customer. It was really satisfying going through the whole process.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I have decided that I will pursue controls engineering further, because I find the combination of programming and mechanical issues satisfying to resolve.
