Description of the Organization
Amway is a global leader in direct selling, and has begun to extend their product categories to include durable consumer items. My team is part of a group that researches and develops new products within this division.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Our team is developing an ultrasonic cosmetic device, and I played a direct role in assessment of the amplifier system driving the ultrasound. By identifying differences in the amplifier's behavior during use, it became possible to use feedback to predict different states of the device and make recommendations to the user.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The development of self-sufficiency through problem solving is something Amway does effectively. I thrive in these conditions as it forces me to earn results and take pride in accomplishments.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I have always enjoyed the people I work with. It was clear that I was in the right place when I was so quickly able to talk and joke with my co-workers in the nerdy way to which I'm accustomed. I feel at home in a place where people share my passions.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience again reinforced my decision to pursue this career path. I can say with certainty that the combination of classes and working experience as an undergrad is the best way to reinforce education.
