Metal Technologies works with making a large variety of metal parts for various companies.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked with designing and improving the gating and risers for the molds for the castings. When a need for a new mold for a part arises I use CAD software to design the gating and risers to feed the castings metal.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Techniques and calculations in the design of gating and risers.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Being down by the large machines that make the molds for the parts and pours the glowing molten metal inside of them to create parts.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I got a good taste of what a full time job in engineering will be like and will be much more prepared for the professional environment of my future career.
