Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As a Co-op software developer at SalesPad, I participate in the development of a real-world software; a software that will actually be used by businesses in the USA and around the world. My tasks went from fixing software issues to develop completely new features for the last born web app from SalesPad.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Being a co-op student at SalesPad exposed to real-world software engineering. On one hand, I had the chance to work with a huge database ;I was a developer for web-application. Being exposed to thousand of lines of code really improved my ability to understand and find my way in lines that were written by someone else. On the other hand, I was part of a great team which helped me develop self-confidence, team corporation and, most importantly to me, I can feel that I have been learning a lot on how to talk and report to the other members of a team.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Was it interesting about being a co-op at SalesPad is that "you are a co-op/intern" but you are actually working on the same project as the experienced developer. I had a super nice mentor and manager; hence everyday, I learn new things and sometime was assigned project that I would first say secretly to myself: "what am I supposed to do here". But Help was always there from all the members of teams.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
One semester as a software developer, made me realize that "yes I really want to be a software engineer". I am conscious that I have a lot to learn but I am definitely more confident about what I want to do with my life now.
