Description of the Organization
Medisurge is a locally owned medical device company that has just completed an expansion to a larger facility. The company has the capability to handle all aspects of the design, development, and manufacturing processes.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
My first rotation of co-op consisted of an abundance of different tasks. I assisted in an engineering transfer, where I completed the required testing/reporting. I completed process, operational, and installation protocols as needed for both the engineering transfer and regular operation. I helped work the backroom of an audit, participated in customer meetings and projects, and wrote, updated and revised documentation as needed.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Some of the many skills/knowledge I gained through my co-op experience included: Customer report writing, prototyping, proper documentation, customer communication, sample testing, bubble leak and pull testing, design verification and validation report writing/completion, operational, process, and installation protocol completion, and 3D resin printing.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I enjoyed working on customer projects the most. There were a few prototyping projects that I completed as well as different testing projects that I completed for customers that were very fun and rewarding. Another part of the co-op experience that I enjoyed was getting to 3D print on our resin printer.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Working with MediSurge has helped me gain confidence in myself in a career perspective by equipping me with an array of diverse skills. My supervisors and co-workers trust my decisions and value my input, which makes me more confident in myself and my work. They have showed me the type of company environment/culture I will look for as I continue on.
