Description of the Organization

Magna Mirrors designs, tests, and manufactures inside and outside car mirror assemblies. In the advanced product development group, I was responsible for improving existing products while also brainstorming future products.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I was first assigned to benchmark existing mirror assemblies. This included extensive testing on the mirror as well as a breakdown of the mirror to it's constituents. Then I was given other tasks including failure analysis, extensive testing for future products, design for concept products, etc.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned a lot about the concept/design phase of a product. I also learned the how manufacturing processes tie into designing a product. I also learned how extensive testing of a product can further improve its function.

Favorite Part of the Experience

Working along side colleagues to make better products for the end user. We all had one goal in mind, and working together with a great group of people made the experience much easier. I also enjoyed the freedom I had to brainstorm my own products and tests.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This experience has really shown me what it is truly like to be an engineer. I want to pursue a engineering career more than ever.
