Shape Corporation is a tier 1 automotive supplier that specializes in roll forming technology. Shape Corp produces goods in an array of industries including automotive, office furniture, medical, and agricultural.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Technical documents such as mill operator's manuals were written. Process studies on roll forming mills were written, executed, and documented regarding the weld bridge, jack stand, and the sweep unit.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Many types of statistical analysis were applied to projects this summer. An understanding of the roll forming process was acquired. Personal professional conduct was enforced.
Favorite Part of the Experience
This co-op experience has ignited my passion for continuing in engineering. Having the opportunity to see the concepts and skills I have learned in the classroom be applied in a manufacturing setting made be want to learn as much as a I can in the remaining time I have at Grand Valley.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Working with the CPE group has given me an interest in pursuing a job in a manufacturing setting. Jobs involving cutting edge exploratory studies are more appealing after this experience.
