Miller Knoll is a company that specializes in modern office furniture, equipment, and home furnishings. The company has locations in multiple countries, but is primarily located in West Michigan. There are over 11,000 employees who work at Miller Knoll.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my time as a co-op at Miller Knoll I have helped with many different projects on the manufacturing floor. I have helped with machine installation, created layouts in AutoCAD, worked with our operations, MES, controls, and quality teams in order to improve the efficiency of our processes.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I have learned how to create detailed floor layouts in AutoCAD, run capability studies on new machines, write VBA code to filter through production data, track the performance of new machines, and design new parts and manufacturing processes.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my co-op experience was seeing changes on the manufacturing floor as the project I was working on was completed.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has taught me a lot about how engineers work in the real world and how to work on a team to accomplish a common goal. I have been able to learn a lot about the manufacturing industry which I believe will help me a lot in my career as an engineer.
