Description of the Organization
JR Automation creates custom assembly machines for many different customers in many different fields. They use PLC controlled machines to create the desired results through robotics.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was a part of a large team of controls engineers. This specific project is expected to last over a year and will be the largest yet though JR. My part in the project was to assist in the electrical/ pneumatic drawings and other data that the customer required. On a day to day basis, I checked drawings, created drawings, designed enclosure layouts, performed heating, pneumatic, and electrical calculations for the controls engineers that I work with.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through this experience I was able to learn how to communicate effectively with other members of a team, create effective electrical drawings, understand and implement different components that are often used in controls engineering, and get involved in the overall community of JR Automation.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my co-op experience was being trusted with drawings on my own and being told an assignment that I had to do, but being able to complete it fully without having to go back for further instructions. I feel like I learned a lot about the way machines operate and will be able to carry that on in my career.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I has confirmed a lot of what I want to do in the future. I love the controls engineering aspect and how things work at JR. Great company with great people. Really makes me feel at home.
