Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I have worked on different projects such as investigation engineering problems, testing new products, designing customized parts and equipment, making engineering drawings, modifying solid works models by design tables, and working on SAP system for engineering changes.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned many things from working at Cameron. First how casual working place runs and works. Second I learned how to use some important Workshop equipment such as air drills, cranes and forklifts. Also, I was able to learn how SAP system workflow could be a powerful tool for big companies and is very helpful for engineering department. I was able also to improve my skills in CAD drawings and modeling. It was critical to understand the company's rules and standards for its designs. The standards includes the allowed tolerance and parts designation for all different parts and features of all units that Cameron makes.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was the (Indicator Gages) project that I was assigned to make to be used by the machinist of the Worm Wheels. The gages were required to be fully designed starting by choosing a way for measuring the desired feature then making the drawing and choosing the material. I had to be creative to create the appropriate design that would do the job correctly. I had so confusion parts during that project because it had so complicated ideas that I choose to follow by making a relation between all the dimension so by making the first gage with defined dimension, I will be able to easily create the other five by only choosing the appropriate dimensions to be entered in an excel sheet, which is the design table, and as soon as I filled the cells I had all six designs ready.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I strongly believe that I have received a very good and unique experience in a very nice company. This co-op enhanced my knowledge, experience and personality. I am so thankful for everybody in Cameron, specially the engineering supervisor Nate Gillespie. He was so helpful, supportive, and great leader. I believe I have got the best of my time in Cameron because of him. The work load and challenges were just perfect. The variation of the assignments was great too. Also engineer Mark was a very good helper in the testing and all the new things when I first started. The experience and support I received is a big bush toward a bright future. I want to learn more and improve more, which will help me to get a rich knowledge, which I will always want to make it richer, and a nice life where I do what I like.
