Description of the Organization
Faurecia Automotive is a Tier 1, French based, automotive supplier specializing in car interiors and seating. The North American Headquarters is found in Auburn Hill, MI. Since Faurecia see research and development as a major component of manufacturing they have created the xWorks innovation centers located in Munich, Shanghai, Silicon Valley, and Holland, Michigan. Each of these locations specialize in innovation dealing with comfort, seating, and incorporation of new technologies within the car interior.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
While working at Faurecia xWorks in Holland I had the opportunity of working on components of major projects that were already in-progress. I also performed research for new projects and interests. During my semester I was also asked to execute tests of projects that were near completions.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Working at Faurecia had taught me to learn how to communicate ideas both verbally and visually. Over the course of the semester I learned about how innovation fits within the process of manufacturing and its importance in product development. This experience has taught me about this importance of knowing about what is occurring in many industries.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I found that the people I worked with were the best part of my co-op. They were all exceptionally knowledgeable and very helpful.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
The knowledge that I have acquired during my co-op experience will stay with me for a very long time. It has really given me a better understanding of innovation.
