Description of the Organization
DornerWorks is a leader in the field of embedded systems design. The primary goal of DornerWorks is be have a key roll in the nuts and bolts design work of larger systems. DornerWorks focuses on designs dealing with software, hardware, and custom logic.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my semester I did a lot of testing different hardware. I also did research and testing involving wireless power transfer. Other work I did includes part generation using MentorGraphics PADS PCB development software. Schematic design and layout in PADS. Front end software development of internal tools. Platform support for the SEL4 open source microkernel.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned a lot about the workings of hardware and how software and hardware work together to form a complete system. I did a lot of debugging with test software to find and fix hardware issues.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Performing research in wireless power transfer and learning how it works and how it can be applied to a system. I played a key roll in the development of the system we used.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
The more I am exposed to at work the easier it is for me to zero in on the things that I enjoy the most... rather than doing sort of a mixed bag of work.
