Description of the Organization

Progressive Surface builds waterjet blasting, shot peening, and thermal blasting systems and machines that are shipped worldwide. Most of these machines are used to prepare airplane parts, more specifically fan blades for jet engines. Some machines are just material handlers or are used in engine block manufacturing. Progressive Surface is made up of four buildings and roughly 100-125 employees.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

electrical drawing changes, setting up PCs, setting up and wiring CNCs, backing up PCs, printing manuals, and assembling vendor manuals to name a few.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned a lot about controls engineering in general but also some technical things as well. I learned about solenoids, proximity switches, pressure controllers and many other controls components. I learned more about AutoCad Electrical 2015, rules, procedures, and operations.

Favorite Part of the Experience

The favorite part about my experience was the hands-on work and learning from all the controls and mechanical engineers working at Progressive Surface.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I enjoyed working at Progressive Surface and would love to work at a company like Progressive or even having a position at Progressive.
