Description of the Organization
AroundCampus Group has been around for 40 years helping local businesses get connected with the college community through advertising within the student planners and mobile app, UConnection. This organization is quite large nationwide; they are on 500 campuses throughout the nation where everyone is trying to get businesses to advertise with us.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During this internship, I was a sales rep for Oakland University. I was responsible for going to 30 or more businesses a day trying to get them to buy some type of advertisement from the company.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through this experience, I learned the importance of mental toughness. This means to not allow the stress from the job or others affect the work performance and attitude. I appreciate learning this skill/knowledge because I am able to apply that to my real life.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this internship was the networking with coworkers and other businesses throughout this summer.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has influenced my career goals tremendously; I am able to confidently sell myself and company without hesitation. Also, it has helped me preserve through obstacles that could be considered hard. I am able to push through everything just to reach the end goal of success.
