Description of the Organization
Chile Transparente is a branch of Transparency International, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to fight government corruption. It's office is located in Santiago, Chile, the countries capitol and economic headquarters. The branch has around seven full time employees and anywhere from one to six interns at a time. The office is small but the right size for a small staff.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
While at Chile Transparente I conducted a research project on how female participation can help lower the level of corruption in government. The focus was on how my research could help in implementing a more women in politics.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I was able to sharpen my research skills beyond that of a classroom. I also learned about the importance of the fight against corruption around the world.
Favorite Part of the Experience
While I was at Chile Transparente I learned a lot about corruption and the ways countries around the world are fighting corruption. This is a topic that I became very passionate about during my time at Chile Transparente.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I would love to work for an organization like Represent.Us which is a non-profit organization working to fight government corruption within the United States.
