JR Automation is a company that specializes in automated cells for manufacturing facilities. Our capabilities range from assembly, to leak testing, to laser welding and more. JR Automation is a company that provides an awesome work environment with a focus on a family-like environment and staying on the leading edge of our field.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As a quoting engineer my responsibilities included concept development for customer, creating a budget/estimate of cost for the cell, and customer communication. This job really combined the design side of engineering with the customer interaction required when selling a product to a customer.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I really learned a lot this semester and picked up many skills that will help me succeed in the business world. Among the skills I acquired are: technical writing, cost development, effective communication with people in a professional environment, how to lead a meeting, time management, and design of automated systems.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this experience was the freedom to do real, productive work and the way that my co-workers at JR Automation with more experience guided me through the quoting process. JR is such an amazing environment to work in and I would highly recommend this company for anyone looking for a job or co-op.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I have learned that customer interaction is something that I would really like to be a part of my future career. I also learned how awesome coming to work can be when you truly love what you are doing and you are challenged on a daily basis to produce high quality materials.
