Experience Information
Employer: TrelleborgVibracoustic
Job Title: Project Engineer
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes
Paid: Yes

Description of the Organization
TrelleborgVibracoustic (TBVC) is an international automotive supplier that makes anti-vibration parts including motor mounts, chassis mounts, isolators and dampers etc.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
About half of the time I spent working in different departments such as quality lab, chem lab (making rubber), cost estimating and purchasing, assembly, test lab etc. The second half of my internship, I spent taking on the role of a project engineer. I created and followed work orders, and analyzed test data.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned about vibrations, frequencies, damping, characteristics of rubber, static and dynamic rates.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I worked in a prototype setting in which an engineer could get instant feedback about a parts performance and can make changes quickly. An engineer could see a problem with their part, make a quick design change and rerun a few parts and see if that fixed the problem.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience makes me want to work in an environment where I can design products but also work with my hands. I don't want to work in an environment where if there is a problem with parts, we have to fill out paperwork and ship the parts back to the supplier rather than just fix it ourselves.
