Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I worked on projects such as planning town halls and canvassing events, including connecting various venues. I assisted in creating GOTV campaigns for multiple precincts.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I gained knowledge on how to work VAN including creating turf, phone banks, entering data and creating events. I gained knowledge on GOTV and how to mobilize with the number of volunteers in our precinct. I became trained by the National Democratic Training committee and used my knowledge to better assist in forming and executing campaign goals.

Favorite Part of the Experience

My favorite part of this internship was being able to gain the first-hand experience in regards to campaigns and grassroots lobbying. I was able to see how the knowledge I learned in the classroom would assist me when it came to gaining the first-hand experience in the field.

The experience influenced my future career goals my opening my eyes to the grassroots side of lobbying. I plan on becoming a lobbyist but now I am more open to look into the grassroots end of lobbying. I also gained connections and knowledge that will continue to allow me to grow within my field of study in the future.
