Description of the Organization
Configura creates Parametric Graphical Configuration (PGC) software solutions for leading international companies. The software's origin stems from the office furniture industry but the technology is perfectly suited for other industries that deal in configurable, complex products requiring space planning. Configura works with manufacturers to create PGC-based software solutions that improve the total sales cycle. Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked on a tool the CET Designer software used for tessellating(repeating) patterns onto surfaces. This is useful for making wood floor patterns, patio brick floors, and tiled walls, to name a few examples. I developed aspects of the UI for this tool and dealt with the pattern repetition calculations, as well as graphical representations of patterns on surfaces. The code I wrote was meant to be an abstract tool, so I also made a brick floor example to show the tessellation tool in an application.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I continued to gain experience in object-oriented programming. I became more familiar with the classes in the software and how to use them more effectively.
Favorite Part of the Experience
The project I was working on required a lot of visualization and it was very fun implementing the graphical side of the tool.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Since this was my third and final co-op, I felt much further along on the learning curve, like my contribution to the company was more meaningful. It was encouraging to work on this tool and have successful results. I have more confidence going into my future career because of having this experience under my belt.
