Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
The second internship at JR Automation was excellent! While working with good people at JR, I was exposed to new technology in the automation industry and gained valuable engineering experience working on multiple projects. I worked with various vision systems, sensors, and software in the research and development lab and worked out on the floor to provide support for different projects. At JR, I found new challenges with every project and it was exciting to help find solutions to the different kinds of project problems. With all of the automation equipment to choose from, it can be difficult to find the most reliable and inexpensive component or vision system to integrate into a given project.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how Rockwell software, various vision systems and a variety of industrial sensors are integrated into an industrial automated process.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Personally, one of my most memorable experiences was assisting in programming fault codes on a welding machine cell and watching the automation process within the work cell come alive. It was exciting to watch the programmed robots and welding machines work very fast to help produce the parts we all buy and use in the automotive industry. But, the reward is as simple as watching an automation process and all its components communicate to one another and work flawlessly producing hundreds of products an hour.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
The experience has influenced me to continue a career of solving problems in an innovative and efficient way.
