Description of the Organization
The applied Medical Device Institute (aMDI), founded in 2015, is a non-instructional unit within the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing (PCEC) at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). They are a small company and its mission is devoted to the betterment of human health and well-being through innovation and commercialization of medical devices, healthcare solutions, and serving related industries.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked on creating a protocol and execution of an accelerated aging study, a design history file (DHF) remediation project, and worked to promote innovation through liquid photopolymer additive manufacturing (3D printing).
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained knowledge on how to use the Envision One 3D printer and the requirements needed for an accelerated aging study for a medical device.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of my co-op is having multiple projects to work on at the same time. I get to work on a wide variety of projects so I'm able to expand my knowledge and skills.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience allowed me to develop and expand knowledge on 3D photo polymer additive manufacturing which I found out I really enjoyed and would be interested in pursuing a career in this area.
