Description of the Organization
Koops Automation is an automation company. They provide solutions for manufacturers to help streamline their production. The company is employee-owned and has business, machine assembly, and engineering groups that work together to create rock-solid solutions.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Over the entirety of my co-op rotation, I completed two main tasks. The first task I completed was programming for a machine that aided in the assembly of luxury car grills. The main thing I did was help use a LIN protocol to set the software for these car grills. The other task I completed was to provide service to various customers when a problem arose. This gave me a variety of experiences in problem-solving.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The main skill I gained was problem-solving. There were often difficult problems that needed to be solved and the solution was not always obvious. Through the help of an engineering team, we worked together to brainstorm and solve these problems. The other skills I gained were mainly programming skills. These skills correlated to PLCs and vision cameras.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience was the variety of solutions I got to see. It was a good learning experience to see many problems get solved.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has made me want to continue to work in the field of engineering. It has helped me gain an appreciation for providing a solution to a difficult problem.
