Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I assisted in in-game promotions for different sports, researched organizations to contact to be involved/recognized at events, and was responsible for playing music during events.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how much of a time commitment working in this industry is, so it is important to understand the grind of this industry. I've learned to ask questions if I don't know something because the whole 'fake it til you make it' phrase doesn't work in sports. It either works or it doesn't. I've learned I'm not going to enjoy everything I do, but the little things are what makes up the big picture and the ultimate goal at the end.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this experience was being involved in the production of the Grand Valley vs. Ferris State football game on October 16, 2021.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I knew I always wanted to work in sports, so this experience validated what I've always wanted to do. I understand working in sports is a grind, and it is a huge time commitment. I am up for a challenge, and my goal is to be working in a professional sports organization at some point in my life.
