Description of the Organization
DornerWorks is a mid-sized engineering company that focuses on real-time embedded systems. Most of the DornerWorks employees are either computer engineers or electrical engineers. DornerWorks takes projects from large companies that focus on the integration of smaller embedded systems. Most of the projects deal with hardware design and software that goes with it.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
During my semester I worked on projects relating to designing and building printed circuit boards. I also worked on internal projects that leaned more toward automation of different tools using the python programming language.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned an incredible amount about hardware design. I came into my co-op not really understanding anything about hardware design and by the end I had a pretty good feel for what I was doing.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this semester was the ability to get out of the classroom and actually experience what real world engineering is like. Also being able to contribute to the progress of the company was a very rewarding feeling.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience was extremely influential to my career goals because I now know what I like about my field and what I don't like. I now have the ability to hone in on the things that I enjoy doing and pursue a career that has to do with them.
