Description of the Organization
East Grand Rapids has had a rich athletic program throughout its long existence with 145 total state championships. East Grand Rapids is a large district with around 925 students and nearly every student participates in athletics. East Grand Rapids offers 33 Varsity Athletic Programs for student-athletes to participate in.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Throughout my time working at East I have had the opportunity to work at basketball games, soccer games, and lacrosse games where I have been involved in the event set up, take down, and supervision. Day-to-day responsibilities include working on social media graphics, assisting the athletic director with facility maintenance, and learning the daily operations involved in running an athletic department.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Throughout this experience, I have learned some valuable lessons including organizational skills, communication skills, and knowledge of event management.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this experience so far has been being able to build relationships with people within the community.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has helped me realize what it will take for me to accomplish my goal of becoming an athletic director.
