Description of the Organization
Autocam is a global manufacturing company that has been around for about 27 years. Autocam specializes in precision manufacturing, especially with fuel injection system components. In addition, Autocam has a medical division that produces medical hand tools and other stainless steel devices found in medicine that require a high caliber of precision.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I acted as an assistant to a production/quality manufacturing engineer. This involves ensuring that product flows evenly throughout the process in a manner that facilitates quality and the proper quantity.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned about the thinking processes that manufacturing engineers use to divine a process for producing a part. In addition to this, I learned about the international standards employed to ensure that manufacturing companies are held accountable for making safe, effective products.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I have much to improve upon. The best part was knowing that I had the chance to improve and reflect upon my growth almost every day.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience made me realize that the professional development I gained will help me wherever I go. Although my heart is not set on becoming a manufacturing engineer, I know these lessons will be of use.
