Employer: Rose Medical
Job Title: Project Engineering Intern
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes

Description of the Organization
Rose Medical is a contract manufacture of medical devices specializing in tipped catheter and cannulas extrusions. The company is relatively small but steadily expanding. Currently, the company staffs around 60 individuals which includes production, management, machining, and engineering professionals.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
As an intern I was primarily responsible for data collection but found a niche within the company as a fixture designer and machinist. In addition to this I was also responsible for producing and executing validation documentation for preliminary tooling and manufacturing processes.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The most valuable skill that I have gained through this experience is the "hands-on" aspect of engineering. This includes the ability to design, machine, and assembly various fixtures and tooling. As an engineer, I feel that this is a vastly undervalued skill that I am proud to say that I have developed.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience has been receiving more responsibility with projects and tasks while at work. It's a satisfying feeling to know that you are relied on as a team member.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has influenced me to pursue a future career in the manufacturing industry where I will be given the opportunity to design and innovate new machinery, tooling, or consumer products.
