Description of the Organization
Impact Fab is a company that makes specialty parts for companies all over West Michigan. Company size in includes around 50 employees from Fabricators, CNC machinist, brake press operators, laser operators, waterjet operators, etc... The company motto is "If we can't build it, you don't need it".
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I spent the majority of my time working in each department with the department heads. Learning from numerous people and their leadership styles. I created a procedural booklet for each department and put together a lean binder for classes the company can use moving forward. The overall goal was to put information on paper so that the company can use this information to improve productivity and workflow through the shop.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
The overall goal was to work closely with all the department heads to fine tune my leadership skills. Take the best from each individual to create my own leadership style. Learning what worked and what didn't for the employees of Impact Fab.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite experience was working in a new department each week. It kept the internship exciting and interesting. It was never the same thing the entire time. Each department head leadership styles were different, and it allowed me to see how leaders can be different but effective.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has allowed me to develop my skills and stay on the current path. This experience will only give me the tools needed to further my current goals in my current job. Looking forward to what the future holds for me.
