Job Title: Community Manager
Major: International Relations
Received Credit: Yes

Description of the Organization
The Spot is very new, just starting up in early 2016. The goal of The Spot is to be a place where expats living in Prague can come and feel comfortable while getting the resources they need to adjust to life in their new home. The Spot is unique in the fact that it is a cafe where anyone can go to enjoy food and coffee. It also houses the office for PraguExpats, a visa agency that helps expats get the documentation they need to live and work in Prague. In the back there are spaces for small events to be held such as Czech lessons or movie nights. The Spot is a very small company in terms of personnel with less than ten employees.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Since The Spot is new, it needs to get its brand out there. I was in charge of marketing at The Spot. My job was to let expats know about what we had to offer The Spot. My usual tasks included posting on social media, organizing and promoting events, writing blog posts, managing web content and SEO, and attending expat networking events.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained a lot of knowledge about running a small business and working freelance. It also showed me the importance of marketing and advertising. I also learned a lot about Czech culture and even took some Czech language lessons.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I really enjoyed living and working abroad. I think this is an amazing experience that really challenges you to adapt and be independent. I also loved meeting so many people from different countries. It was great to learn about their lives and their culture.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I would love to work abroad in the future, and this internship has only reaffirmed that.
