Description of the Organization
The Grand Rapids division of L3 communications is a medium sized company that consist of both manufacturing and office workers under one building. The TE department consists of a smaller group of engineers in charge of testing the units made by production to ensure they're up to FAA standards.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I ran many tests on specific units and designed new testing processes and software for specific units. Alongside this I worked on developing hardware for a station to run tests on units which involved circuit design and software design.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
How to translate hardware designs better to complete technical drawings. Technical knowledge on the testing of aviation products and technical writing.
Favorite Part of the Experience
Being able to work independently and being trusted to complete professional engineer tasks.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has been a great work environment and showed me that the aviation field is a great option for electrical engineers.
