Description of the Organization
The Club Sports department at Grand Valley State University provides over 40 club sports the opportunity to compete. The organization works closely with the students to make sure they have a great experience.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
While in this position I am in charge of all of the official GVSU Club Sports social media pages. I had to attend many events to gather content to create posts for socials. I also had to design the club sports website and keep up to date with all 40-plus clubs. I am in charge of the email and communicate daily with hundreds of students and peers.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
Through this position, I have been able to work on my marketing and design skills a lot. I have been able to work with different apps and technology that I didn't know how to use before. I also gained better communication and leadership skills while overseeing other student staff.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this internship experience so far is working with the student-athletes, coaches, and coworkers. I really enjoy working hands-on with sports daily and creating fun content to share with the GVSU community! Being able to go to the events, run the games, and get paid is really awsome! I really enjoyed learning how to design and create posts for social media as well!
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This internship has influenced me to look into working at a university in the marketing department. I really enjoy working with social media, design, and college students. I have been able to see those factors shine through in this position.
