Job Title: Social Media and Marketing Implementer
Major: Advertising & Public Relations
Received Credit: Yes

Description of the Organization
Porteen Gear is a small business that is made up of five individuals, including the intern (myself). We specialize in creating custom camera bag designs for photographers all over the world.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Besides every day basic tasks like: checking all the social media and brief customer service, we did two projects during my internship. The first was a Mother's Day marketing project where we promoted a sale on our special Spring tote bags. The second is currently in production, and it is the story of Porteen Gear. IT will be a long video, and a series of short ones, going over the impact Porteen Gear has had on its employees, customers, and venders.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned how to think around different obstacles, specifically for a small business that doesn't like normal marketing tactics. It forced me to rethink things through and create engaging media in order to promote the business, instead of usual ads. I also got to brush up on my graphic design skills, learning new shortcuts and strategies to designing great works.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was getting to know all the employees on a very personal level - it was a great way to be introduced into the field because you had everyone's support and input.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I know I would not like to be an entrepreneur, starting and owning a business is a lot harder than most people would know. I'd like to continue my path down into the corporate world. However, this experience gave me insight to how to be a better leader, and initiator, which will no doubt help me climb up the ladder.
