Description of the Organization
Magna Mirrors is a division of Magna International, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, that develops internal and external mirrors as well as overhead consoles, lighting modules, and door handles. Magna Mirrors in Kentwood is home to approx. 150 employees in engineering, product validation, a model shop, sales, and HR.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This semester I designed and built an end-of-line test fixture that is now in production in our Grand Haven plant. I also developed a general lighting specification for all of Magna Mirrors' lighting modules. Miscellaneous jobs I completed this semester included benchmarking, running a CNC, and product testing
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I developed more extensive CAD skills and learned about the design, review, and iterative prototyping process that Magna follows.
