Description of the Organization
Medallion Instrumentation Systems designs and manufactures gauges, sensors, and modules. Medallion makes products for use in recreational vehicles as well as large trucks and marine vehicles.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I have been working at Medallion part time since my first co-op semester ended last summer. This semester I was focused primarily on organizational and business/engineering system improvement.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained direct hands-on experience with issue/task management systems (ex: JIRA) as well as furthering my SQL and VBA skills.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the co-op experience was setting up JIRA to be used as a general purpose issue-tracking system for the entire company. It was an interesting challenge to make what was originally a software bug tracking tool work for general management purposes.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
From my experience this semester I have found that I really enjoy working on making the organization itself run better. I will most likely continue my education in Engineering but will also look into business courses.
