Description of the Organization

The organization is a law office that takes cases in all area of law. The dominate area is bankruptcy currently.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I completed many different tasks while working. The dominate area that I focused on was bankruptcy as well. i would set up the file, input all the information, request missing information, set up appointment, and sit in on review. That was standard for the Chapter 7 cases and 13 cases. Chapter 13 cases had more documents that were drafted. I communicated with our clients, my boss, opposing counsel, trustees, and their staffs. I also drafted and served documents for divorce and custody matters. AS well as, probate. I also did the basic such as drafting letters, answering phones, emails, and filing.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I think the greatest thing by doing this is finding what area of law would be best for me. I did get more knowledge of other areas of law other than just bankruptcy. Also building people skills by having to work with so many different personalities.

Favorite Part of the Experience

I think my favorite was working within the other areas of law that I'm not to familiar with. Also creating more relationships with other attorneys at different firms. It was interesting to see how they handled a case compared to what I see on a daily basis.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

It has. I think one thing it made me think about was my major. I feel like going into law the standard is to have political science as a background. I don't know if that is necessarily true. I think by working on different areas of law also impacted me because more local relationships were built. In regards to bankruptcy, its more phone or emails that make the relationship.
