Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I started the semester working in quality and returns. I tracked incoming and outgoing returns and would look at the failure mode. I had a spreadsheet that kept track of every return ever filed in our new system and could check back and find out how many times a certain model was returned and look for patterns in the failure mode. Finding these patterns eventually helped us create standards and procedures to eliminated these failure modes. The second half of the semester I was working on floor changes. These could be anywhere from adding a part to the BOM or adding a dimension to a drawing to creating a new part or modifying an existing part.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I know some tricks in Solidworks from spending many weeks creating and editing models. I now have an understanding about quality checks and tolerances.
Favorite Part of the Experience
I liked working on the returns at first but once I had everything in the spreadsheet, there was not much to do but look for patterns. The changes were actually more interesting. They were usually different and made me get a broader understanding on what all goes into a cylinder.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I know I do not wanna sit in front of a screen all day everyday. I would like to find a position that allows me to get out and check things on the floor and also have days where I am on the computer working on projects too.
