Job Title: Coach/Intern
Major: Sport Management
Received Credit: Yes

Description of the Organization
MBA's main goal is to foster the values and lessons learned through sports. They have teams for beginners all the way to national level teams who compete in tournaments in front of college coaches. They host tournaments at their facilities and also hold camps and clinics throughout the year.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I coached the 6th grade blue team, pictured above, for about 4 months. I then moved to coaching the 6th UA future team and a 9th/10th regional team which I will be with throughout the summer. Coaching consist of running multiple practices a week and traveling for tournaments on the weekend. I also gained a lot of experience in being a site manager at our location when we would host tournaments.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned that a major part of coaching, especially young kids, is communication. I had to adjust my coaching style depending on the team or players abilities and age. Communicating with parents is also a major factor in making sure all practices and tournaments run smoothly.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the internship was the relationships I have created along the way. Every person on staff at MBA were so welcoming and just great people to work with. I could not have asked for better players to coach as well. Having a chance to have a positive impact on these girls lives really means a lot and is the reason I chose to work in sports.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
Before working at MBA I had no idea what I wanted to do after college. After having the opportunity to coach/intern at MBA I can see myself working in an AAU organization in the future.
