Description of the Organization
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Athletic Director at Wayland Union High School.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
Most of the work I did with Justin included scheduling games for various sports, sending emails to receive sports contracts, creating a list of all the schools in the OK Gold Conference and providing addresses to all athletic venues, getting proofs and estimates on a record board project currently being done at the high school and not to mention coaching the JV baseball team.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I was able to gain full knowledge on how to handle various tasks as an athletic director. I learned how to use the various online resources you must utilize in order to keep students and parents informed. I also learned a great deal on how talk to parents and deal with various situations.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of the internship was just being in the athletic office and helping out in any way that I could. I loved my time at Wayland and hope to continue to coach baseball there after this year.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has helped me gain some valuable experience in the sport leadership field and will look great on a resume. I would say that I took a step forward in my goal of one day working in an athletic department either at the high school or college level
