Job Title: Electrical Engineering co-op
Major: Electrical Engineering
Received Credit: Yes

Description of the Organization

Large company with plenty of roles to move between. GE Aviation offers roles for ME's, EE's, CE's, aerospace engineers, CS, CIS, IT majors, and more. There are roles in manufacturing, design, management, you name it. This is a great company to be a part of.

Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

Some C-programming, little circuit design, lots of hardware debugging and rework (soldering).

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

Knowledge in three phase power generation, conversion, and distribution. Since this is GE Aviation, I also gained a lot of knowledge in general aviation topics and had opportunities to tour manufacturing sites and jet engine test sites. <-- This was very cool!

Favorite Part of the Experience

This co-op really helped to open my eyes to a lot of topics that I had never even thought about before. I am much more curious now about ground power generation, different types of power lines, power generation sites/factories. It's amazing how dependent the world is on power generation and distribution, but most people don't know what is really going on behind the scenes.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

This experience has helped me to realize that I want to design analog circuits and possibly work in power generation.
