Description of the Organization
At JR Automation, we provide solutions to industrial applications everyday. These applications vary based on our customer's needs but can involve simple manual machines or tools to large robotic cells and systems.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
This co-op semester, I played a role in the Mechanical Design Team. Some of the noteworthy tasks/projects that I have completed or am currently working on involved me being the main designer for relatively smaller jobs. I am working on my second "full" project. This involves going to meetings to discuss concepts, using CAD to implement design, and releasing the job. The machine is then built and controlled (upon specification).
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I gained the following specific skill/knowledge: 1.) Communication skills 2.) Top-down designing technique 3.) Further developed my ability to comprehend machinery and how to design accordingly 4.) Sharpened my Creo CAD software knowledge 5.) Manufacturing process application
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was working with great people everyday. Also, the company continuously giving me more and more responsibility was really rewarding.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
I wasn't fully aware of what engineers working in automation fully worked on. Now I know, and really want to go into this industry!
