Description of the Organization
Swoboda Inc produces Electrical components for cars and integrated metal and plastic components. This is done by a fully and completely automated cell. That means that there is no human interactions involved handling the parts.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I was assigned to help start a new project line called the Infineon/Sonoma/IVC part. This part essentially controls the timing of the cams in your car. I started prototyping and slowly began to automate my process through the help of robots, bowl feeder, pneumatics and conveyers.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned injection molding, prototyping, balancing budgets, tolerances, Mold correction, how to stay in contact with suppliers and most all the tools in a shop.. lath, CNC, mill, surface grinder......and a whole lot more.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part of this co-op experience was the responsibility that was put on my shoulders.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has influenced my future goal by teaching my the necessary skills to become a very effective engineer.
