Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed

I was an on call manufacturing engineer in one of their major plants in Holland. I solved critical issues on the line that prevented manufacturing and helped to prepare for a launch of a major door panel line. I also was given 3 other lines to manage where I was the sole manufacturing engineer where I had to manage engineering changes, solve issues, and make the jobs of the operators efficient and simple.

Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience

I learned everything about how assembly of a safety critical, large assembly line. I was able to hone my problem solving skills and make important decisions on the assembly line. I was given the supervision to make good decisions and room to make the decisions my own.

Favorite Part of the Experience

The people there were focused on my learning about assembly and were great to work with! They had great attitudes and were patient when I was trying to understand a difficult topic.

How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals

I had a background in molding, so to develop other manufacturing experience and skills were very important to me to improve my product design skills. They show me what I should thinking about when I make design decisions. It also gives me experience to a large assembly line, so it shows me the organization and focus that it takes to pull off a multimillion dollar launch.
